Will Starr's Accordions:

Italian Franchetti:

It is believed that at that time, Franchetti accordions were actually made in Glasgow, Scotland.

Will Starr won the Scottish championship in 1932, at the age of ten, with this accordion.

It was also with this accordion that he played on the BBC Radio programme 'Down at the Mains', the fortnightly feature in the Scottish Children's Hour radio series, broadcast by the Scotland Home Service.

When he turned professional, he modified the front of the accordion by removing the word Franchetti and replacing it with 'STARR'.

As his fame spread and his professional engagements increased in number, Starr added another attractive feature to this accordion in the form of lights which lit-up when he was on stage.

Will was a showman who realised the importance to a performer of innovation and good presentation and the need to provide a spectacular experience for the enjoyment of his audiences.
