In 1952, at the age of 30, in recognition of the pleasure he brought to Scottish ex-patriots and the people of Canada during his touring performances there, he was presented at a civic dinner with the freedom of Chilliwack and was made Honorary Mayor of Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.
