Will Starr's Accordions:

German, black 3-row Hohner Morino (1956)

Jim MacKay Dance Band
Jim Mackay Dance Band

Jim and his Band were the guest performers at the monthly Club night of Glenrothes Accordion and Fiddle Club, on 27 June 2006, at Victoria Hall, Coaltown of Balgonie, Fife.

Band: L-R
Jim Mackay - lead accordion, playing the original Will Starr 3-row Hohner 'Shand Morino'

Stephen MacKay (son of Tom) - fiddle

Tom MacKay (son of Jim) - drums

Graeme MacKay (son of Tom) - third accordion, 3-row Hohner 'Shand Morino'

Bill Ewan (guest for the evening) - keyboards

Nick MacKay (brother of Jim) - second accordion, 5-row Hohner Riviera Continental

Note:
The accordion played by Graeme MacKay is from the same batch of 10 black 'Shand Morino's' made at the Hohner factory in Trossingen, Germany in 1956. Furthermore, by the strangest coincidence, the Hohner factory serial numbers stamped on these two accordions are consecutive.

The quality of playing by the band and the sound from these two, 50 year old 'Shand Morino's' in particular, was superb.
