Sir Jimmy Shand was knighted in 1999 by Queen Elizabeth II. The people of Auchtermuchty in Fife erected a statue in his name and Hohner of Germany specially designed and made a 3-row button accordion to his specifications then named it, "The Shand Morino".

The site was researched and created by a long-time fan. It presents information on his life, his music, his compositions and his recordings.

His web site also shows a photograph of Gordon taken during a trip to Ireland, playing the black "4-row" Hohner Morino previously owned by Will Starr. After that experience Gordon said, "The highlight for me was to have my picture taken with Will Starr's accordion."

The Hohner company provided Will Starr with the accordions he played in his adult years, and still to this day they supply accordions to most of the greatest players in the world. Just take a look at the web site and read about how the famous Hohner Morino and Hohner Gola are made - you will be enlightened, surprised and inspired.
